About

Dr. Donald Cohen. a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist is best known for his direct approach and originality. He is an expert on issues of communication and relationships and  an organizer of a teen group. Dr. Don has been in private practice for more than 40 years. He continues to provide counseling and therapeutic  support to patients in both individual and group sessions. 


Dr. Cohen has a B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a M.S.W from Columbia Uni­versity, and a  Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University Med­ical Center and an adjunct instructor at Fairfield University.  


As the original creator, producer, and host of the weekly radio and television show, Kids Are Talking, Dr. Don is thrilled to now be live-streaming the show on a weekly basis. He believes having the recorded shows available to students, families, educators and therapists will help spread the word and ensure kids voices are heard by all. He has published numerous articles, as well as lectured and conducted workshops, on the value of communication and its link to family issues. 


Over the past 50 years, Dr. Cohen has written about his family and the personal impact of current events. He started writing poetry in the 1990's and later became the lyricist for the band, The GIVE.  In two memoirs, The Inside Ride and My Father, My Son, he chronicles his relationship with his father. Dr. Don has written about the affect and impact of Covid19 on his life in a soon to be released book, Echoes of Covid.  


Dr. Cohen lives in Weston, CT with his wife. They have two chil­dren and five grandchildren.
